Pattern and Tesselation

I am a graduate of the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts Academy in Istanbul, Turkey. It was established with deep French art school influence. Studying European art in Turkey gave me many advantages in patterning. Ironically, I realized after living five years in New York that I am very knowledegable of Seljukian, Ottoman, Pre-Islamic Persian and Arab motifs, and I became aware of my unique skillset and special talent for Far Eastern and Western Arts as well. Sometimes, looking at one’s work from outside can be the best form of observation. Combination of my mosaic applications, my geometric motifs and my pattern designs opened up a new world and brand new challenges which led to a whole new professional field: architectural mosaic applications.
